Rejoice and be glad in Him!

We have many items to rejoice in… our family and friends have filled our lives with joy, love, and laughter! It’s been several years since we have sent out a Christmas letter and felt it was time to try again. Even though it won’t make it before Christmas – ‘tis the season!

We are both still working for Expeditors International. It seems like only yesterday that we started working for “EI”. It has been a great company to work for and they have definitely taken care of us all along. We just had another wonderful Christmas party, and there are always ‘perks’ along the way.

Lynn is now a US Customs Import Entry-Writer (Broker) and has been doing US Customs clearance for the past year. It’s not accounting (her real passion), but she is enjoying the new experience, and especially the wonderful people and friends she works with. Her primary account is GE Appliances, so if you have purchased any of their great products or parts recently it’s likely that Lynn handled the paperwork to ‘clear’ them into the United States!

David is now an EDI Analyst (Electronic Data Interchange)at the headquarters office in downtown Seattle and has been commuting for over 2 years now – Wow! How time flies! He was taking the bus from Federal Way, but since we’ve moved to Bonney Lake, he now spends his commute time on the Sounder Commuter train between Sumner and Seattle in a bit more ‘style’.

If you didn’t catch it in the last paragraph… yes, we’ve moved! We made a decision this year to begin buying homes for investment and while we were not planning to move we happened to find a home that ‘just fit’ so we made an offer (sealed bid) and left for Wisconsin on vacation. We had just finished dinner that night with a family friend from Wisconsin, Dan Miller, and were sitting in our car ready to go back to the “Homestead Hotel” (Dick and Pat Colbeth’s wonderful new home) when we got a message from our RE Agent and wonderful new friends, the Hellicksons to let us know that our offer was accepted!! We were shocked and just stared at each other for what seemed like an eternity – we had bought another house!! What an awesome experience!

While we were happy about the new house, we were definitely sad to leave our awesome neighbors in Federal Way. On one side of us, Tim, Linda and Berit were like family – and on the other side, Bert and Lolitta were becoming fast friends. The Kwons across the street had just moved to a new area too – it was a neat group of people and we miss them all. Our new house is in a larger development of Bonney Lake. While David isn’t much for ‘developments’, it is a great neighborhood – another cul-de-sac with lots of kids and friendly adults. You can see pictures of the house before we moved in on our website (www.dlchomes.com then on the left side select “parade of homes” and then select “21816”).

Yes, the backyard is huge – at least half again as big as the size of our old place. The layout of the house is open and airy with tall ceilings downstairs and vaulted ceiling in our master bedroom. It’s great for entertaining which is something we like to do, (we had over 50 people for Karen’s baby shower!  Yes! Karen & Mike are expecting their first child anytime now – it will be fun to be Uncle and Aunt to another youngster…) so be sure to come out to our events, or just stop by and see us!

Our trip to Wisconsin was a blast – we had a great time visiting family and friends we had not talked to or seen for several years. A small family reunion was organized by David’s, father’s cousin, June Ann and we a great time getting to know each other and learning about our families. Pictures, email and home addresses were exchanged to maintain the connection we developed with all who attended. In November, we found ourselves in Las Vegas with our friends the Hellicksons. It was a great time mixing business with pleasure and we all had the opportunity to see the Blue Man Group, and Mystere by Cirque du Soleil – what amazing shows! It is hard to believe the imagination of the creators and the ability of all the actors.

As always, there is much we’ve experienced and we’d need a book to put it all in words, so give us a call, stop by, or just email us and we can keep each other posted on where life is taking our families. We’ve had a wonderful year, and hope this letter finds you and your family in good health and great wealth!!

-David and Lynn Colbeth, & Ruby too!

This is the house from the street with Leo & Eileen’s van out front. There is a double car garage door, and a third stall with its own door in the ‘setback’ to the right.

Here’s a shot from the back fence looking toward the house. Hard to see, but Lynn, Leo, Eileen, and Leona are off to the left corner looking at the outdoor, 50AMP circuit box setup for a pool or hot tub!

We spent almost a week in Whistler and it snowed about a foot and a half of new powder! We skied, rode snowmobiles, and relaxed – what a great time.

This is our awesome nephew Michah and Lynn is holding our cutie niece, Julia.

(Karl & Laveda Altenhofers kids)

Here’s our ‘little’ one – she’s not so little, at 110 pounds she’s quite a handful!

This is a fun picture of the travelers!

We’re at Pepper’s – my Uncle Donny and Aunt Sandy Anderson’s deli in Wisconsin.
